Starting Friday, April 6^th, Riverfront Sports will be offering U6 – U12 soccer players from northeast PA the opportunity to play in a downsized or “MICRO” version of the game. This is a unique opportunity for players to develop the fundamentals of the game. It’s fun for kids, like playing soccer in the backyard with their friends, but with instruction and a schedule.

Key components

1.       This is the only SPRING recreational soccer league offered in our area.

2.    Players will get 50 minutes of playing time/ three 18 minute games each week

3.    FREE instruction is available to players 45 minutes prior to each week’s games. This instructional time is also for parents who are interested in learning more about the game of soccer.

4.    Every week you are GUARANTEED to have your game and participate in the FREE instructional time. Weather and field conditions are not a factor when playing inside our facility.

5.     Low Cost – 7 weeks of games and the practice session is ONLY $50 per player!

6.     Players U6-U9 will be Tuesday’s from 5:45-7:30pm

8.     There are no “designated” teams. Each week we divide the player’s different ways in order to form teams. Parents, we do need assistance each week. If you would like to help and instruct the kids, please let Coach J know when you register your child on-line in the “comments” section……thanks.

The small-sided games will allow players more touches on the ball and will increase their creativity and confidence. The structure of this league will help them with ball control, vision of the playing field, and provide many scoring opportunities. Looking at the goal is one of the greatest motivators since everyone wants to score. When players learn to incorporate these fundamentals into their individual game, they become “smarter and better” soccer players. We take away the winning and losing factor. Kids still “compete” but the focus is more on the individual player instead of the team.

High School Clinic and 7v7 Tournament

Grades 9 through 12

April 28th from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

April 29th from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Cost: $75.00 per person

OR

$65.00 per person if signed up as a team

(A team of 8 or more girls)

Riverfront Sports is excited to announce their first annual high school field hockey clinic and 7v7 tournament.

The first day of the clinic will focus on:

-Individual skills and stickwork

-Offensive and defensive techniques

-Skill stations

-Small game play

The second day of the clinic will be set aside for competitive 7v7 tournament play.

Each player is expected to bring one pair of field hockey shoes or sneakers, shorts, sweats, towels, mouthpiece, eye guards (optional), shinguards, water bottle, and field hockey stick. Riverfront will provide each player with a ball and T-shirt.

Kellina’s Bio

Kellina started her coaching career as the Assistant Field hockey coach at Marywood University. Prior to coaching Kellina played high school field hockey at Honesdale High School. Upon graduation she headed to East Stroudsburg University to play Division II field hockey as a Lady Warrior. She then transferred to Keystone College where she played at the Division III level for two years while leading her team to undefeated conference play in the 2009 season. Kellina found her way back to where she was once a Giant to start her second season as Assistant Field Hockey coach at Keystone College.

What to bring: t-shirt, shorts, shin-guards (mandatory), socks that cover your shin-guards, cleats or sneakers. Snacks will be available so bring a little spending money.

Why?  This clinic is designed for your child to learn some things about soccer and to have FUN while they are learning.  We will be teaching many of the skills that we go over in our Riverfront Soccer Academy and summer soccer camps, along with playing fun soccer games that re-enforce the fundamentals of the game of soccer. Even though there is “no school” hopefully your child will learn something and have fun doing it!

Most Important Reason: April and May we will be having our 4v4 league again. We had 125 kids last year and we are shooting for 150 this year. This would be a great jump start to get your juices flow’ in to play some spring soccer here at Riverfront Sports.
