Beginner Field Hockey Clinic

Grades 3 through 8

Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Cost: $35.00

Riverfront Sports is excited to introduce their field hockey clinic for beginners. If your child is interested in the sport of field hockey, this program is perfect. It is an opportunity to learn one of the areas fastest growing sports.

Our program centers around your child having fun while they learn the necessary skills of field hockey like: hand-eye coordination, agility, finesse, balance, passing, offense, and most importantly teamwork. The coaching staff consists of knowledgeable and experienced field hockey coaches and players, who are excited to teach and coach the sport to your children.

The first two hours of the clinic will be used for instruction, skills and drills, while the remaining 30 minutes will be used for scrimmaging and small game play.

Riverfront will provide the following equipment if you do not have it: field hockey sticks and field hockey balls. We ask that your child come prepared with proper protective gear such as: shin guards, a mouth guard and sneakers. However, if you are interested in purchasing your own equipment, we have provided a helpful site for you. At this site, you can find packages including a: field hockey stick, shin guards, a mouth guard and a ball.

Beginner Field Hockey Clinic

This session will be taught by current Keystone College Assistant Field Hockey coach Kellina Yarrish. Kellina’s goal is to provide the foundation for a great field hockey experience for many years to come.

Intermediate Field Hockey Clinic

Grades 3 through 8

When: March 31, 2012

Time: 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Cost: $35.00

This Intermediate Clinic is designed for players who are familiar with the game, but are excited about learning more about field hockey.

This clinic will focus on skill development and fun game play.

The first part of the clinic will focus on: skill stations, instruction and offensive and defensive techniques. The last part of the clinic will be set aside for small game play.

Each player will be responsible to bring their own: mouthpiece, shin guards, water bottle, field hockey stick and eye guards (optional). Riverfront Sports will provide each player with their own ball.

This session will be taught by current Keystone College Assistant Field Hockey coach Kellina Yarrish. Kellina’s goal is to provide the foundation for a great field hockey experience for many years to come.

Kellina’s Bio

Kellina started her coaching career as the Assistant Field hockey coach at Marywood University. Prior to coaching Kellina played high school field hockey at Honesdale High School. Upon graduation she headed to East Stroudsburg University to play Division II field hockey as a Lady Warrior. She then transferred to Keystone College where she played at the Division III level for two years while leading her team to undefeated conference play in the 2009 season. Kellina found her way back to where she was once a Giant to start her second season as Assistant Field Hockey coach at Keystone College.
